1-6 months

Designs are entitled to a novelty grace period of 6 months from the filing date/priority date if:

• If a third party maliciously discloses the New Zealand application within 6 months of the filing date/priority date, making the design available to the public
• If a design application is made for a new or original textile product, the first confidential order does not affect the novelty of the application
• For example, when the design is disclosed to the government to assess the merits of the design
• If submitted within 6 months after the opening of the officially recognized exhibition

• Licensing Fee: None.
• Annuity: The application fee includes the official fee for the first 5 years. The first renewal fee must be paid within 5 years from the filing date.

Annuity: The applicant shall pay the commenced and all due annual fees within 3 months from the date of granted. The annual fee shall be calculated and paid year by year from the third year from the application date, and shall be paid before the application date of each year. Overdue payment may be made within 6 months of the overdue period.

Applicants are required to provide the Indian Patent Office with a report on the work of the granted patent, stating the commercial work status of the patent in the previous year, before March 31 of each year.

• Grant fee: The applicant needs to pay within 4 months after receiving the announcement of the patent granted decision, and pay the annual fee at the time of granted at the same time.
• Annuity: The annual fee is paid year by year starting from the third year from the application date. Overdue annual fee can be paid within a grace period of 6 months, and a penalty of 0.5 euros should be paid at the same time.

Design pictures can contain up to 12 pictures. UKIPO only conducts a 2-week formal review of design patent applications. If there are any defects, the applicant must reply to UKIPO's review comments within 2 months. Design applications can be patented after overcoming the defects.
