Finland Profile

Finland, officially the Republic of Finland, is a Nordic country located in the Fennoscandian region of northern Europe. It is bordered by Sweden, North Norway to the west, Russia to the east, and Estonia to the south of the Gulf of Finland. Politically, it is a parliamentary republic with a central government in the capital, Helsinki, and local governments in the 336 autonomous districts and the Åland archipelago. Finland was part of Sweden from the twelfth to the beginning of the nineteenth century.
