Lithuania, officially the Republic of Lithuania, is located in Northern Europe and is the largest of the three Baltic states. Located on the southeastern coast of the Baltic Sea, it is bordered by Sweden and Denmark to the east. It borders Latvia to the north, Belarus to the east and south, Poland to the south, and Russia to the southwest. As of 2016, Lithuania had a population of approximately 29 million and its capital, Vilnius, is also its largest city.
