A request for substantive examination of a Colombian PCT application must be filed within six months of publication of the application. Applications can be accelerated through the Patent Prosecution Highway.

Appearance does not require a request for review. The Colombian Patent Office will not conduct a novelty examination unless a third party opposes the design application within 30 working days of its publication.
The application does not lose novelty if it is disclosed by the applicant, inventor, agent, or a third party or state agency that has obtained information from the above-mentioned persons within 6 months before the filing date/priority date.
The application does not lose novelty if it is disclosed within 12 months from the filing date/priority date by the applicant, inventor, agent, or a third party or state agency that has obtained information from the above-mentioned persons.
