  • Appearance does not require a request for review. The Colombian Patent Office will not conduct a novelty examination unless a third party opposes the design application within 30 working days of its publication.

  • The application does not lose novelty if it is disclosed within 12 months from the filing date/priority date by the applicant, inventor, agent, or a third party or state agency that has obtained information from the above-mentioned persons.

  • Colombia does not charge granting official fees. The first annual fee after patent grant must be paid before the last day of the month corresponding to the international filing date. Deferrals are possible within the 6-month grace period, subject to late fees

  • A request for substantive examination of a Colombian PCT application must be filed within six months of publication of the application. Applications can be accelerated through the Patent Prosecution Highway.
