The Intellectual Property Protection Department of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of Qatar issued Notice No. 2/2024, allowing applicants to postpone the payment of annual fees after the third year, provided that the patent application is still under review. However, at present, the Qatar Patent Office has now resumed the payment of annual fees for all years, including unauthorized patent applications under review. Therefore, regardless of whether the patent application has been authorized, the applicant must pay all unpaid annual fees as soon as possible.
In addition, no refund will be given for incorrect, mistaken or duplicate annual fees.
