Singapore and Indonesia signed the Patent Collaborative Search and Examination (CS&E) Program on January 2, 2025. The program was jointly initiated by the Indonesian Intellectual Property Office (DGIP) and the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) to speed up the patent examination process for patent applicants in Singapore and Indonesia.
The number of claims for a patent application proposing a CS&E plan shall not exceed 20, and the number of exclusive rights shall not exceed 3.
The examination time will be significantly shorter than usual, calculated from the date of filing or publication of the CS&E request (whichever is later). The CS&E program does not require any official fees, but the monthly and annual quotas of the CS&E program must be met. The program will run until January 1, 2027.
