Recently, the Intellectual Property Protection Department of the Lebanese Ministry of Economy and Trade announced that under the new procedures, it is no longer necessary to submit original certificates when registering the transfer of patent or trademark ownership.
In the registration and filing of patent transfer, the right holder only needs to provide the following documents to successfully complete the transfer registration:
- Power of attorney, which must be notarized and authenticated by the Lebanese Consulate
- The transfer deed must be signed by both the transferor and the transferee, notarized, and authenticated by the Lebanese Consulate
- Scanned copy of patent or trademark certificate
In the field of intellectual property, simple and efficient procedures are crucial for protecting the interests of rights holders. Lebanon's procedural reforms reflect the continuous improvement and progress of countries in intellectual property management. This not only saves time and costs, but also reduces errors that can arise from complex procedures.
