Argentina, officially the Argentine Republic, is a federal republic located in southeastern South America. Covering most of the Southern Cone, Bolivia and Paraguay are bordered to the north, Brazil, the northeast, Uruguay and the Atlantic Ocean to the east, Chile to the west, and the waters of the Drake Passage to the south. With a continental area of 278,000 square kilometers (1,073,500 sq mi), Argentina is the eighth largest country in the world, the second largest in Latin America, and the largest of the Spanish-speaking countries.
